Welcome to the Youth Hansa Homepage
The Hanseatic City of Visby organized the first Youth Hansa-Forum in 1998
and leveled the way for a participation of the
young hanseatic european citizen. A very important condition for a better
understanding between future-citizens in Europe.
The youth are ready for a better cooperation. One example is the fact, that
the discussion about different things like culture,
history and the european union lead to a new project in internet. The
University of Greifswald, Germany started a discussion-project as
a motto "Schools as ambassadors of Hanseatic towns".
The Youth Hansa is a young initiative: In Oldenzaal in 1999 we discussed our future projects
and our internal structure for the next years. In 2000 we finally decided
on the proposal for structure and elected the members
of the Hanseatic Youth Commission (HYC).
Here are some points on our structure:
- "Youth Hansa" is the official name
- Every participating hanseatic city sends, if possible, two youth delegates
- The youth delegates should be at the age of 16 to 25 years
- Our main goals are:
- The exchange of opinions and experiences about all themes concerning the young people.
- Carrying out concrete projects who either help to achieve goals or support other hanseatic cities in their aims.
- Support of youth meetings and schoolpartnerships.
To achieve these goals, workshops and discussions are an important component
of the yearly meeting of the Youth Hansa.
The Hanseatic Youth Commission (HYC) coordinates the work of the whole Youth
Hansa and takes on to represent the Youth Hansa. As a connection of tradition and present the HYC is composed of one delegate
from Lübeck, one delegate each from the next two Hanseatic Cities which
host the Hanseatic Days (2001: Riga, Latvia - 2002: Brugge, Belgium)
and two elected delegates from other Hanseatic cities.
